How much does an SEO tool cost in India in 2026?

What Ahrefs, Semrush and pay-as-you-go SEO tools cost in rupees in 2026, what you actually get for the money, and how to pick one for your budget.

How much does an SEO tool cost in India in 2026?
In short
  • The big suites start at roughly ₹12,000-13,500 a month once converted from dollars, before your bank's conversion fees.
  • Most freelancers and small businesses use a fraction of what those plans include.
  • Pay-as-you-go tools charge per search or check, so a light month can cost a few hundred rupees.
  • Free Google tools cover your own site well; paid tools are for competitors, keywords at scale and tracking.

If you’ve priced an SEO tool recently, you’ve probably done the same maths: a “$129 a month” plan turns into well over ₹12,000 once it’s converted, and that’s before your bank adds its foreign-currency fee. For a freelancer, a small agency or a business doing its own SEO, that’s a real monthly bill.

This guide sets out what the main options cost in rupees in 2026, what each price actually buys, and how to choose without paying for capacity you won’t use.

What the big SEO suites cost in rupees

Ahrefs and Semrush are the two tools most people compare. Both are excellent, both price in US dollars, and both sell monthly plans with fixed limits. Here are their entry and mid-level plans, converted at ₹96 to the dollar:

Plan List price In rupees, about Who it’s for
Ahrefs Lite $129/month ₹12,384 One person, small sites
Ahrefs Standard $249/month ₹23,904 Most freelancers and in-house teams
Semrush Pro from about $140/month ₹13,440 One person, a few projects
Semrush One Starter (SEO + AI visibility) $199/month ₹19,104 Teams that also track AI search

Prices are monthly list prices from Ahrefs’ pricing page and 2026 pricing guides for Semrush, and they change often. Paying by an Indian card usually adds a foreign-transaction fee of a few percent on top, and the rupee amount moves with the exchange rate every month.

Extra users usually cost more on these plans, and some features, such as AI visibility tracking or white-label client reports, are sold as add-ons on top.

What you actually use from those plans

A plan’s limits are sized for heavy users. Ahrefs Lite, for example, lets you track 750 keywords and audit 10,000 pages a month. Many people on that plan track a few dozen keywords and run a handful of searches a week.

That gap is the real cost. You pay for the whole plan whether you run 10 searches that month or 500, and if you go over a limit, the next step up is often double the price.

Before you pick a plan, write down roughly what a normal month looks like for you:

  • Keyword research: how many searches a month?
  • Rank tracking: how many keywords, and checked weekly or daily?
  • Competitor and backlink research: how many domains a month?
  • Site audits: how many pages across all your sites?
  • AI search: do you need to track whether ChatGPT or Google’s AI Overviews mention you?

Most small businesses and freelancers find their real month is a small slice of an entry plan.

Pay-as-you-go SEO tools

The alternative to a fixed plan is paying per use. You buy credits, and each search, check or audit uses a few of them. If you run less, you pay less, and there’s no plan to outgrow.

This is how Seoprama works. Credit packs start at ₹549 + GST for 2,900 credits, which is about 63 keyword searches. Credits you buy don’t expire, and you pay in rupees by UPI, card or netbanking. If you’d rather have a fixed bill, the monthly plans start at ₹1,499 + GST with 7,500 credits each month.

Using the same allowances as Ahrefs Lite in full, the month works out at about ₹4,100 on Seoprama, roughly two thirds less. Most months use less than the full allowance, so the real number is usually lower. You can put in your own month on the package builder and see the price straight away.

The honest trade-off: Ahrefs and Semrush have larger data sets and more reports built up over many years. If you live inside an SEO tool all day and use most of what a plan offers, a fixed plan can work out cheaper at very heavy use. If you don’t, you’re paying for headroom.

Free tools that cover a lot

Before paying for anything, make sure you’re using the free tools Google gives you:

  • Google Search Console shows the searches your own site already appears for, your clicks, impressions and average position, and any indexing problems. It’s the most accurate data you’ll get about your own site, and it’s free.
  • Google Analytics shows what visitors do once they arrive.
  • Google Keyword Planner gives keyword ideas and search volume ranges, through a Google Ads account.

What free tools don’t do well is show you your competitors: which keywords bring them traffic, who links to them, and where you’re missing out. That’s where a paid tool earns its cost.

How to choose for your budget

Doing SEO for your own business, a few hours a month: start with Search Console, then add a pay-as-you-go tool for keyword research and tracking your main keywords. Expect a few hundred to around ₹1,500 a month.

Freelancer with a handful of clients: rank tracking and regular keyword research are your main costs. Price your real month on a pay-as-you-go tool and compare it with an entry plan. Most freelancers land well under the cost of an entry suite.

Agency with many clients: you’ll use a lot more, and client reporting matters. Compare a heavy month on credits with a mid-level plan plus the cost of any reporting add-on, and check how each tool charges for extra team members.

Brand focused on AI search: if your main question is whether ChatGPT, Gemini or Google’s AI Overviews recommend you, you don’t need a full SEO suite. Look for a tool that sells AI prompt tracking on its own.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a good free SEO tool in India?

Google Search Console is the best free tool for your own website, and Google Keyword Planner gives free keyword ideas and volume ranges. For competitor research and rank tracking at scale, you’ll need a paid tool.

Why do Ahrefs and Semrush cost more in India than the dollar price?

They bill in US dollars, so the rupee amount depends on the exchange rate, and Indian banks usually add a foreign-currency fee to international card payments. Tools that bill in rupees avoid both.

Can I pay for an SEO tool with UPI?

Yes, some tools that bill in rupees accept UPI, including UPI AutoPay for monthly plans. Seoprama accepts UPI, cards and netbanking, with GST invoices for businesses.

Is a pay-as-you-go SEO tool cheaper than a monthly plan?

For light and medium use, usually yes, because you only pay for the searches and checks you run. At very heavy, steady use, a fixed plan can work out cheaper, so price your typical month before deciding.
